PostDoc (m/f/d) in the field of Polymer Science or comparable

The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad array of topics in the focus areas of energy, infrastructure, environment, materials, and analytical sciences.

Your responsibilities include:

Interdisciplinary Research in the Field of Flame Retardancy of Polymers, in particular:

Thermal analysis (e.g. TG-FTIR, pyrolysis GC/MS)

Flammability and fire behaviour (LOI, UL 94, cone calorimeter)

Polymer analysis (e.g. SEM, FTIR)

Evaluation of mechanisms and modes of action

Validation of novel concepts (e.g. sustainable flame retardancy, flame retardant lightweight construction)

Documentation, presentation, and publication of the resultsYour qualifications:

Successfully completed university studies in the field of Polymer Science or comparable

Ph.D. Polymer Science

Experience and knowledge in the field pyrolysis and flame retardancy of polymers

Knowledge and experience of thermal analysis and polymer analysis

Good knowledge of English (written and spoken)

Good communication and information behaviour, ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate, as well as goal-oriented and structured way of working

initiative/commitment and conceptual, strategic and innovative thinking skillsWe offer:
