Postdoctoral Researcher in Innate Immunity and Inflammation

We are seeking a highly motivated, academically excellent and proactive Postdoctoral Researcher with a strong background in innate immunity to join the Genomics of Inflammation group of Professor Irina Udalova at the University of Oxford.

You will be carrying out research on the transcriptional and molecular control of inflammatory and immunometabolic diseases, within a leading-edge international consortium (Oxford-Copenhagen-Stockholm) funded by Novo Nordisk Foundation. You will be using advanced immunological and imaging approaches and innovative single cell genomic technologies to study how development and function of innate immune cells, such as neutrophils, monocytes and macrophages, is guided by intrinsic molecular regulators and influenced by extrinsic protein, lipid and metabolic signals. You will benefit from a portfolio of mechanistically-informed immuno-metabolic targets built by our consortium and the unique in vivo models to test cell-specific changes in disease pathogenethis.

You will join an interdisciplinary and international team of scientists and clinician researchers studying the contribution of the immune system in the pathogenesis of immunometabolic diseases. You will be based at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, University of Oxford, which is a world-leading research centre where discovery research drives development of transformative therapies for chronic inflammatory and degenerative disease. You will have an opportunity to visit other research institutes of the consortium.

You will take responsibility for the planning and execution of high quality research, ensuring the validity and reliability of data at all times, co- oridnate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines and use specialist scientific equipment in a laboratory environment.

You will hold a PhD (or near completion) in immunology, molecular and cellular biology, or similar. You will demonstrate capacity to deliver high quality research outputs, illustrated by a strong publication record in high profile immunological journals. Expertise in neutrophil and/or macrophage biology, in vivo models of intestinal inflammation, spatial single cell and functional genomics approaches and CRISPR/Cas9 knock-out technology would be desirable.

This is a full-time appointment fixed-term for 2 years, the post holder needs to be in place by 01/01/2023.
