Description

The College wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to participate in ‘Uncertainty Quantification at the Exascale' project. This EPSRC Excalibur funded post is available immediately to August 2024. You will research methods for quantifying uncertainty in numerical models that need to be run on the next generation of high performance computers.

The post will include research within the project team on UQ methods for propagating and quantifying uncertainty in hierarchies of numerical codes from low fidelity/fast simulators to very expensive codes running on the world's most powerful computers.

About you

You will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in statistics or applied mathematics and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. You will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required. Applicants will be able to build mathematical and statistical models for the uncertainty in complex numerical models of engineering and environmental systems.
