The Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Devices (CRMD) within the School of Sport and Health Sciences are looking to recruit a highly-motivated post- doctoral research fellow with a proven expertise in podiatry.

This is a 6-years project (value >£3.5M) bringing together 13 researchers and 5 research fellows with expertise ranging from chemistry and material science/engineering to computer modelling, applied molecular and cell biology, genomics and podiatry. The project aims to develop the first ever theranostics wound dressing platform to improve the quality of life of millions of patients worldwide.

For the first time, a systematic profiling of the wounds of patients treated with different dressings will identify non-healing and healing pathways and inform computer modelling and biomaterial science research that will develop a biomimetic functionalisation of the dressings and integrate molecular probes able to provide clinicians with information about the status of the wound healing process. The post is funded by a prestigious project granted by the UK Research and Innovation Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council entitled ‘A biomimetic macromolecular platform for tissue healing and diagnostics at medical device interfaces: a personalised wound dressing model'.

As the Research fellow, you will play a fundamental role in the project and will be responsible for the interaction with clinicians, the storage and collection of wound exudates and wound dressing samples. In order to be successful in the post, you should have:
